Quantifoil® Holey Carbon Film is a perforated support foil with a p re-defined hole size, shape and
arrangement. They are offered with circular and square, orthogonally arranged holes. The film is mounted
on a standard Ø3mm Cu, Au, or Ni TEM grid with 200, 300 or 400 mesh. They have advantages in electron
microscopy (EM) or low-energy electron point source (LEEPS) microscopy when compared with conventional
holey film. The final thickness of the foil is about 20nm, although only 10nm of carbon is evaporated
onto the plastic

The UltrAufoil grids : One of the major problems when performing electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM) is
specimen movement from beam irradiation during imaging, which results in blurred, low resolution images.
One cause of excessive specimen drift is the use of carbon foils on metal (Cu) grids, which can move up
to 400Å parallel to the beam. The UltrAuFoil® grids were specifically developed for cryo-EM, to reduce
the movement of cryo-specimens during imaging. The UltrAufoil® grids are a 200 or 300 mesh gold grid
with a 400-500Å thick polycrystalline gold foil, which have a regular square array of micrometer-sized
circular holes. These grids are similar to Quantifoil® Grids except that the UltrAuFoil® grids use gold
foil instead of a carbon foil and are less fragile. Similar to the carbon supports, the UltrAuFoil®
grids can be made hydrophilic using low-energy plasma. The UltrAuFoil® grids can improve your image
quality by reducing radiation-induced motion without the use of sophisticated drift correction or
hardware.

Cryo Grid Boxes & Handling Tools The Cryo Grid Boxes are used for storing and transferring vitrified Cryo-EM specimens prepared with
cryo-devices like the FEI Vitrobot, Gatan CP3, Leica EM 6P, as well as other cryo vitrification systems.
Each box holds 4 grids and is available in two colours and three versions: with clear lid, pin type lid,
and without lid. All boxes have a UNC 5/40 thread in the centre. On versions with clear lids, the lid is
held in place with a stainless steel screw.
